Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. Her first Broadway roles, she played in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The actress was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working alongside prominent directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford is scheduled to be starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. It's also available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. The film will premiere in March 2023. Ashford will make a return appearance on Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The same team that created Hamilton director Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at leading the show. Ashford's latest part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on a national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the CBS hit comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role of Essie. Also, she has appeared on Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original character as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. Born and raised in Denver Ashford is now dividing her days between Los Angeles and New York.
